Questions
JPG or PNG for an iPhone photo?
JPG almost always: much smaller and accepted everywhere. PNG only if you need an exact, uncompressed copy for editing.
Why is the PNG so large?
HEIC is highly compressed and PNG is not compressed at all in the same sense. A ten-fold increase is normal.
Is this tool free?
Yes. Every tool here is free, and you do not need an account, an email address or a phone number.
What happens to my file?
The browser cannot read this format, so the file is sent to our server, converted, and sent straight back. The uploaded file and the result are deleted as soon as you download them, and in any case within 60 minutes. They are never added to the website media library.
