A resizer that takes JPG in and gives JPG back, which is what you want when a form asks specifically for a JPG of a certain size.

Fill in one dimension and the other follows automatically. Resizing is the most effective way to reduce a JPG's file size — far more effective than compression, and with less visible damage, because you are removing pixels rather than approximating them.

If you also need to meet a file size limit in KB, resize here first and then run the result through one of the KB compressors. Doing it in that order gives a better-looking result than compressing a large image hard.

How to use it

  1. Choose your files, or drag them onto the box above.
  2. Enter the width and height you need, then press resize.
  3. Download the result. Nothing is kept once you leave the page.

Questions

Does resizing a JPG lose quality?

Making it smaller does not visibly hurt; you are discarding pixels you no longer need. Making it larger does, because the detail is not there to spread out.

Resize or compress first?

Resize first. Setting the dimensions you actually need removes most of the file size by itself, so any compression afterwards can be gentle.

Is this tool free?

Yes. Every tool here is free, and you do not need an account, an email address or a phone number.

Is my file uploaded to your server?

No. This tool runs inside your own browser, so the file never leaves your phone or computer. Once the page has loaded you can even switch off your internet connection and the tool will still work.

Which files can I use?

This tool accepts JPG. The largest file it will take is 25 MB.
