Sets an image to one of the standard screen resolutions: 4K, QHD, Full HD, HD or SD.
These are useful when you are preparing a wallpaper, a video thumbnail or a slide background, where the target display has a fixed size. Full HD, 1920 x 1080, is the most widely useful of them.
"Fit the whole picture in" keeps everything and pads any gaps; "fill the frame" crops to the exact shape. Because these resolutions are all 16:9 and most photographs are not, one or the other will happen — there is no way to make a 4:3 photo exactly 16:9 without either cropping or padding.

Questions
Which resolution should I use?
Full HD (1920 x 1080) covers most screens and uploads. Use 4K only if you know the display can show it, as the file is four times larger.
Why are there bars at the sides?
Your photo is a different shape from 16:9. Choose "fill the frame and trim the edges" to avoid the bars, at the cost of cropping.
Is this tool free?
Yes. Every tool here is free, and you do not need an account, an email address or a phone number.
Is my file uploaded to your server?
No. This tool runs inside your own browser, so the file never leaves your phone or computer. Once the page has loaded you can even switch off your internet connection and the tool will still work.
