Compresses an iPhone HEIC photograph while leaving it as a HEIC.

This is a narrow use. HEIC is already an efficient format, so the saving is smaller than you would get from other formats, and the result still will not open on most non-Apple devices or upload to most portals.

If the photo is going into a form, or to someone who is not on an iPhone, use HEIC to JPG instead. That solves both the size and the compatibility in one step.

Since no browser can write HEIC, this runs on our server and the upload is deleted as soon as the result is sent back.

How to use it

  1. Choose your files, or drag them onto the box above.
  2. Set the size you need, then press the compress button.
  3. Download the result. Nothing is kept once you leave the page.

Files it accepts

  • HEIC
  • HEIF
  • Up to 25 MB per file
  • Up to 10 files at once

Questions

Should I compress HEIC or convert it?

Convert, in nearly every case. HEIC to JPG makes the photo smaller and makes it open everywhere. Compressing to HEIC keeps the compatibility problem.

Is this tool free?

Yes. Every tool here is free, and you do not need an account, an email address or a phone number.

What happens to my file?

The browser cannot read this format, so the file is sent to our server, converted, and sent straight back. The uploaded file and the result are deleted as soon as you download them, and in any case within 60 minutes. They are never added to the website media library.

Which files can I use?

This tool accepts HEIC and HEIF. The largest file it will take is 25 MB.
