Two sizes in one tool: 400 x 400 for a profile photo, and 1584 x 396 for the background banner across the top of a profile.
The profile photo is displayed as a circle, so leave a little space around the head rather than cropping tight to it. The banner is extremely wide and shallow, and a good part of its left side sits behind the profile photo on most layouts, so keep anything important to the right of centre.

Questions
Why does my profile photo appear as a circle?
LinkedIn crops a circle out of the square you upload. Leaving a margin around the head stops the corners of the picture being cut into.
Part of my banner is hidden.
The profile photo overlaps the lower left of the banner. Keep text and logos towards the right-hand side.
Is this tool free?

Is my file uploaded to your server?
No. This tool runs inside your own browser, so the file never leaves your phone or computer. Once the page has loaded you can even switch off your internet connection and the tool will still work.
