A square image at 500 x 500 pixels, which suits almost any profile picture: a website account, a messaging app, a work portal.
Square is what nearly every service wants, and most will crop a non-square picture themselves — often badly, cutting off the top of a head. Doing the crop here first means you decide what stays in frame.
"Fill the frame" is the right choice for a face: the picture is scaled to cover the square and the excess is trimmed from the sides.

Questions
Why square?
Almost every profile picture is displayed in a square or a circle cut from a square. Supplying a square means the service has nothing to crop and cannot cut it badly.
My head is cut off.
Crop the photo first with the Image Cropper, choosing the square shape and placing the frame where you want it, then come back here.
