Privacy. This tool works entirely inside your browser. Your file is never sent to us, never saved, and never seen by anyone else. Read how we handle files

This re-saves a PNG using the strongest compression settings available and strips out metadata the picture itself does not need, such as the software that created it and the date it was made.

Every pixel comes out identical to the original. Nothing is approximated and nothing is thrown away, so the saving is modest compared with reducing the colours — typically a few percent to perhaps a fifth, depending on how the file was made in the first place.

If the result would be larger than what you gave it, the tool hands back your original untouched and says so, rather than pretending a bigger file is an improvement.

How to use it

  1. Choose your files, or drag them onto the box above.
  2. Set the size you need, then press the compress button.
  3. Download the result. Nothing is kept once you leave the page.

Files it accepts

  • PNG
  • Up to 25 MB per file
  • Up to 20 files at once

Questions

How much smaller will my file get?

Usually a few percent, occasionally much more if the file was saved inefficiently. If you need a large saving and the image is a screenshot or drawing, use the colour-reducing PNG Compressor instead.

It says the file is already as small as it can get.

That means our attempt came out bigger than your original, so you were given the original back. It was already well compressed.

Is this tool free?

Yes. Every tool here is free, and you do not need an account, an email address or a phone number.

Is my file uploaded to your server?

No. This tool runs inside your own browser, so the file never leaves your phone or computer. Once the page has loaded you can even switch off your internet connection and the tool will still work.

Which files can I use?

This tool accepts PNG. The largest file it will take is 25 MB.
