Sometimes you do not have an exact number to hit — you just need the file considerably smaller than it is. This tool works in percentages instead of fixed sizes.

Set how much smaller you want the file and it works towards that reduction, lowering quality first and dimensions second. A 60 percent reduction turns a 5 MB photo into roughly 2 MB; 90 percent turns it into about 500 KB.

This suits the common case of a phone photo that is simply too big to email or upload, where any sensible reduction will do. If your form gives an exact limit in KB, use the Custom Image Size Compressor instead, which aims at that figure directly.

How to use it

  1. Choose your files, or drag them onto the box above.
  2. Set the size you need, then press the compress button.
  3. Download the result. Nothing is kept once you leave the page.

Files it accepts

Questions

How much reduction is safe?

For a photograph straight off a phone, 60 to 80 percent usually looks identical on screen. Beyond that you start to see it, especially in smooth areas like sky or skin.

Why did it not reduce by exactly the percentage I asked for?

Compression is not linear, so the result lands near your figure rather than exactly on it. The panel shows the real sizes before and after.

Is this tool free?

Yes. Every tool here is free, and you do not need an account, an email address or a phone number.

Is my file uploaded to your server?

No. This tool runs inside your own browser, so the file never leaves your phone or computer. Once the page has loaded you can even switch off your internet connection and the tool will still work.

Which files can I use?

This tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. The largest file it will take is 25 MB.
